TIPS FOR TAKING GREAT OUTFIT PICTURES OF
1. The most important thing is to get a good camera; I’d suggest a professional camera, Canon, Nikon, et al. The lens on a professional camera is great for outfit detail, and it blurs out the background giving your picture a sharp quality. So for a great outfit picture, it’s great to invest in it. If you don’t have the resources for that, then use a good camera phone that can produce great outcome as well.
2. Plan your outfit ahead of time, that way everything goes together. Planning outfit ahead of time helps you access your outfit determining what needs to be added or excluded from the outfit. It also helps you to be creative with the outfit.
3. I do this a lot; I shoot multiple looks in a day. This helps with time management and also helps you balance blogging with work, school and life. You don’t have to get ready everyday for pictures. Use a totally free day to shoot as many outfits as possible and bank them. Should in case something comes up such as, climate change, emergency or mood swings.
4. Scout out background that blends well with the outfit you have in mind to shoot, finding a great background helps with your shoot. When you are working with a busy outfit it’s best to keep the background noise to a minimum. It’s always good to be in the hunt for new attractive backgrounds for your outfit. Using the same background often can get boring.
5. If you do not have a friend or family member that can photograph you, find a photographer that understands your esthetic. Make sure you work with a photographer that understand the brief and your aesthetic. To be on the safe side, send them samples of your shoot so they know what you are looking for.
6. Do not be shy, taking outfit pictures for the blog requires versatility, so don’t be shy to try new poses that you are comfortable in, and also match your aesthetic. Try new poses every so often to change it up a bit. Find your signature look.
7. Let your outfit do the talking, sometimes you can get creative and style an outfit piece in two ways, call it a look book. You can also think outside the box and use props to add color to it.
8. Finally and most importantly, shoot in great light. Lighting can really make a difference. Shoot outdoors when possible. Photographers do say the best time to shoot is in the morning before the sun is up.
These are my tips to a great outfit shoot, I hope it helps.
